It’s the time of year when I want to spend as little time as possible dealing with foundation brushes and setting powders — and, fortunately, also the time of year when my skin isn’t quite so pale and I can pull off a BB cream.
Lately I’ve been loving a few Physicians Formula products, including an unlikely gimmick stick that actually does what it claims to do (shocker!). Watch the video for a step-by-step breakdown of my current daily makeup routine, along with first-try road tests of a couple of new-to-me products, or keep scrolling for a list of what I’m using.

- Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil in Touch of Gold
Great if you want to be a little bit sparkly, I guess? Personally I probably won’t be putting this on my face again, but if you’re looking for something to tame flyaways and leave a touch of sparkle in your hair, this’ll do the trick. - Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady in Light
This BB cream has been on my face every day since I brought my first tube home a couple of weeks ago. I don’t know about the #social #sonow #instaeverything branding, but the coverage is perfect for summer and I love the way it makes my skin look. - Physicians Formula #InstaReady Full Coverage Concealer in Fair
Ignore the totally unnecessary blending sponge included with this concealer and just put it on with your fingers. It is definitely full-coverage. - Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Blush
If you are remotely scent-sensitive, or if you just don’t like the smell of coconut, avoid this heavily fragranced blush. - Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady Contour Stick in Bronze Trio
This is a unicorn, gang: A gimmicky product that actually works! Contouring my cheeks has literally never been so easy or fun. Swipe it up your cheekbone, blend with your fingers, and you’re done. It’s seriously exactly that easy. I’m going to stock up on these this week while Ulta is running a special on Physicians Formula. - Benefit They’re Real! Tinted Primer and They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara
Jury’s out on these. Here’s the backstory: I have naturally long lashes. I have no need for additional length. (Sorry if that sounds douchey, but everybody’s got something going for them, right?) What I need is volume and thickness. This is what I explained to the salesman at my local Ulta, and he sat me down and convinced me to buy this duo. I tried the mascara when it first came out and wasn’t wowed, but my understanding is the formula has changed. Is it a perfectly nice mascara? Yes. Is it the thickening, blackening holy grail product of my dreams? The search continues. (Get 20% off sitewide at Benefit’s Friends & Family sale! Use code FRIENDS through May 31.)
- Makeup Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm Palette and Ultra Contour Kit
I haven’t been particularly impressed with Makeup Revolution’s eyeshadows, but I love these two cream palettes for contouring and highlighting. - BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Birthday Babe
This was last year’s Ulta birthday gift, and it’s great, but if you missed out on it I don’t know that it’s worth shelling out 30 bucks. There are lots of other nice pink lip glosses out there.
