Do you know how rare it is that I get to sleep alone in a freshly made bed with clean sheets in a clean room with zero chance that I’ll be awakened in the night by a small child or a cat?
So when I headed out of town for a quick overnight last weekend, I made myself stay up an extra 20 minutes in that nice clean hotel room (the Hyatt Place in Champaign, Illinois, in case you’re wondering, and I’d happily stay there again anytime) so I could use the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Water Lock Hydro-gel Melting Mask I’d grabbed on a whim while shopping for new Bogs for my kids at Nordstrom Rack.
For all their popularity, I’m personally not really crazy about sheet masks. I feel like they’re usually more effort than they’re worth. But I adore hydrogel under-eye patches, and I love everything I’ve tried from the Milky Piggy line, so this mask with the long, silly name seemed like a $3 gamble worth taking.
The Water Lock mask comes in two pieces, and between that and the clingy nature of hydrogel, it fit to my face perfectly. I smoothed out the air bubbles and felt the mask comfortably in contact with my entire face.
Let me tell you about this mask: IT FEELS AMAZING. My day had been spent driving and then running around to social engagements, and I’d also had like three glasses of wine and not nearly enough sleep or water. I smoothed the mask pieces on and instantly felt cool, delicious moisture in every single skin cell. If I could have kept myself awake any longer, I would have left that mask on for an hour. I seriously momentarily pondered propping myself up on both sides with all those plump hotel pillows so I’d sleep on my back and could leave it on all night long.
I didn’t get up to look at my face in the mirror when I took the mask off (so, so tired), but the cool, hydrated feeling lasted as I fell asleep, and I woke up looking depuffed and rehydrated.
I came home from Champaign and ordered myself a five-pack on Amazon for about $15. Welcome to the rotation, new favorite face mask.
